HTC mar­ket share in the US falls to 3.4 per­cent as weak de­mand af­fects An­droid phone mak­ers

HTC Corp.’s ( ) share of the United States smart­phone mar­ket con­tin­ued to drop in the sec­ond quar­ter of 2015 amid weak de­mand spread­ing across all An­droid phone mak­ers, ac­cord­ing to re­search firm comS­core Inc.

The Taoyuan-based com­pany re­mained the fifth-largest smart­phone ven­dor in the U.S. with a 3.4 per­cent share in April-June, down 0.4 per­cent­age points from the pre­vi­ous quar­ter and show­ing the sharpest de­cline among the top five play­ers, comS­core said in an Aug. 7 re­port.

Top-ranked Ap­ple Inc. saw its U.S. mar­ket share rise by 1.5 per­cent­age points to 44.1 per­cent in the sec­ond quar­ter, out­pac­ing its arch-ri­val Sam­sung Elec­tron­ics Co. in sec­ond place with a drop of 0.2 per­cent­age points to 28.1 per­cent.
