Acer No. 1 seller for US Chrome­books in Q2 2015

Acer Inc.( ) said Mon­day that it was the top seller of note­books pow­ered by Google Inc.’ s Chrome op­er­at­ing sys­tem in the United States in the sec­ond quar­ter of 2015 across the com­mer­cial, dis­tri­bu­tion and re­tail chan­nels.

Cit­ing data from mar­ket re­searcher NPD Group, Acer said in a state­ment that its U.S. Chrome­book mar­ket share in the com­mer­cial chan­nel ex­panded to 47 per­cent in June, mak­ing it a dom­i­nant player inthe We­b­cen­tric lap­top cat­e­gory.

The com­pany said its Chrome­book shares in the U.S. dis­tri­bu­tion and re­tail chan­nels also per­formed well in the sec­ond quar­ter, reach­ing a share of around 30 per­cent in each of the two chan­nels in June to rank as the largest sup­plier.

“These ex­cel­lent re­sults demon­strate Acer’s com­mit­ment in pro­vid­ing qual­ity prod­ucts, sup­port and ser­vices to the ed­u­ca­tion mar­ket,” Acer said in the state­ment.
