Al­ida Lin wins Egyp­tian World Dance com­pe­ti­tion

Tai­wanese belly dance teacher Al­ida Lin has won the cham­pi­onship of World Dance Fes­ti­val held in Egypt ear­lier this month.

Lin started danc­ing at age 3 but did not be­gin to belly dance un­til six years ago.

She told CNA that this year’ s fes­ti­val spon­sors have of­fered var­i­ous classes to nearly 100 par­tic­i­pants from around the world and her long and ar­du­ous prac­tice has earned the world’s recog­ni­tion.

Lin, who won a cham­pi­onship in Bei­jing in 2011, said she prac­tices at least two hours a day, and as a teacher she must study ev­ery de­tail of the art that orig­i­nates from the Mid­dle East.
