Maokong gon­dola ser­vice set to re­sume oper­a­tions

The Maokong gon­dola, one of Taipei’s ma­jor tourist at­trac­tions, will re­turn to ser­vice Satur­day morn­ing af­ter oper­a­tions were sus­pended dur­ing Typhoon Soude­lor, which swept through Tai­wan last week­end.

The Taipei Rapid Transit Corp. said that in­spec­tions have found that the py­lons and hill­sides are safe af­ter the typhoon, although some trans­mis­sion ca­bles be­tween the py­lons suf­fered wind dam­age.

It said it has mo­bi­lized tech­ni­cal per­son­nel over the past sev­eral days to re­pair dam­age in the high and steep ter­rain and oper­a­tions are ex­pected to re­sume at 8:30 a.m. Satur­day.
