Obafemi Martins scores twice, Sounders whip Or­lando City 4-0

Obafemi Martins scored two goals in his first game since June 16 as the Seat­tle Sounders beat Or­lando City 4-0 on Sun­day to end a club-record los­ing streak at five games in Ma­jor League Soc­cer.

Martins com­bined with La­mar Nea­gle for a close range shot past goal­keeper Tally Hall into the back left cor­ner mid­way through the 17th minute.

Paraguayan new­comer Nel­son Valdez, signed Aug. 7, headed in an Erik Friberg ball for a 2-0 lead late in the 51st minute. Martins made it 3-0 in the 62nd, and Thomas scored dur­ing stop­page time.

Or­lando City was re­duced to 10 men in the 40th minute when de­fender Tyler Turner was sent off for his sec­ond yel­low card.

In Sun­day’s other game, Kennedy Ig­boananike scored his sec­ond goal of the game in ex­tra time to give the Chicago Fire a 3-3 draw with the Philadelphia Union.

Ig­boananike found the top-left cor­ner of the net for the equal­izer af­ter putting away a left-footer off a cross from Pa­trick Nyarko in the ninth minute.

Fer­nando Aris­tegui­eta and Fabio Alves gave Philadelphia a 2-1 lead at the half.

Pa­trick Nyarko scored in the 54th, off a cross by Ig­boananike, to make it 2-2, but Se­bastien Le Toux put the Union back on top with a right-footer from the mid­dle of the box in the 90th minute.
