Health minister to speak at APEC meeting on health and economy
Taiwan’s health minister will lead a delegation to the fifth Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation ( APEC) meeting on health and economy, and will give a talk at the event to be held in the Philippines at the end of this month, an official said Thursday.
Minister of Health and Welfare Chiang Been- huang ( ) will talk about strengthening health system management during the High- Level Meeting on Health and the Economy slated for Aug. 30- 31 in Cebu, said Michael Hsu ( ) , director- general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Department of International Organizations.
The minister will also share Taiwan’s views on APEC member governments’ commitment to health issues, Hsu told reporters at a news briefing.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Chien Chungliang ( ) will deliver a speech on the issue of healthcare innovation, he added.
Noting that the theme of this year’s meeting is charting a new course for transitioning health systems and economies through inclusive innovation and multi- sectoral collaboration, Hsu said Taiwan will take this opportunity to share its experience in related areas and seek opportunities to cooperate with other APEC members in the future.
