Bad­minton cham­pion Tai climbs to No. 3 in world

Tai­wan’s Tai Tzu-ying ( ) im­proved her Bad­minton World Fed­er­a­tion (BWF) rank­ings in women’s sin­gles af­ter her strong per­for­mance at the 2015 BWF World Cham­pi­onships on Aug. 10-16 in Jakarta, In­done­sia.

Tai, who was fourth en­ter­ing the World Cham­pi­onships, reached the quar­ter­fi­nals be­fore los­ing to her op­po­nent Lin­daweni Fanetri of In­done­sia 21-14, 20-22, 12-21.

De­spite suf­fer­ing a de­feat to the world No. 24, Tai still moved up one notch in the women’s sin­gle rank­ings to third, reach­ing her ca­reer high.

It was not only a per­sonal best but also a record for the high­est po­si­tion in the BWF rank­ings for a Tai­wanese women’s sin­gles player.
