Union edge Im­pact 1-0 in Drogba’s MLS de­but

French for­ward Se­bastien Le Toux scored the lone goal in the 78th minute to give the Philadelphia Union a 1-0 win over Mon­treal on Satur­day night and spoil Di­dier Drogba’s Ma­jor League Soc­cer de­but for the Im­pact.

Drogba, the for­mer Chelsea and Ivory Coast star, went into the game to a stand­ing ova­tion in the 59th minute, but was un­able to pro­vide the spark for Mon­treal.

Van­cou­ver’s Cris­tian Techera scored in the 32nd minute to hand the White­caps a 1-0 vic­tory home vic­tory over FC Dal­las.

Techera back- heeled in a pass from Kekuta Man­neh while be­ing crowded by goal­keeper Jesse Gon­za­lez and de­fender Je­Vaughn Wat­son. The Uruguayan midfielder has three goals in three games.

In Colum­bus, Ohio, Jack McIn­er­ney scored the win­ner in the 88th minute of his home de­but as the Colum­bus Crew beat Sport­ing Kansas City 3-2.

Mar­cel de Jong opened the scor­ing in the 14th minute for Sport­ing and Ethan Fin­lay an­swered for the Crew in the 35th.


Graham Zusi gave Sport­ing a 2-1 lead in the 62nd minute, nut Tony Tchani equal­ized for the Crew in the 80th.

Michael Parkhurst sent a long ball to Fed­erico Higuain, who forced goal­keeper Tim Melia to make a div­ing save that de­flected to McIn­er­ney. The open tap-in was McIn­er­ney’s 37th ca­reer goal.

Real Salt Lake downed the Seat­tle Sounders 2-0 af­ter Javier Mo­rales and Se­bas­tian Jaime scored early.

Mo­rales opened the scor­ing in the 12th minute, con­vert­ing from the spot af­ter the Sounders’ Ro­man Tor­res was called for a hand ball in the area. Luke Mul­hol­land’s 30-yard rocket off the cross­bar in the 19th minute re­bounded to Jaime, who headed it home.

Jozy Alti­dore scored twice and Se­bas­tian Giovinco, Marky Del­gado and Justin Mor­row added goals in Toronto FC’s com­mand­ing 5-0 vic­tory over Or­lando City, while Chris Won­dolowski scored his 12th goal of the sea­son 4 min­utes into the game as the San Jose Earth­quakes beat Eastern Con­fer­ence-lead­ing D.C. United 2-0.

Colorado’s Dil­lon Serna scored 49 sec­onds into the match as the Rapids beat the Chicago Fire 1-0 to end a three-game los­ing streak.
