Okubo leads Kawasaki past Gamba 5-3 in J-League

Vet­eran striker Yoshito Okubo scored twice as Kawasaki Frontale beat de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Gamba Osaka 5-3 for its fourth straight win in the J-League on Sun­day.

Okubo gave Kawasaki a 4-3 lead from the penalty spot with 15 min­utes re- main­ing and set up Elsinho seven min­utes later to seal the win.

Pa­tric scored twice and Shu Ku­rata added another for Gamba.

The re­sult puts Kawasaki on 23 points, five be­hind sec­ond-stage lead­ers San­frecce Hiroshima with four games re­main­ing. Gamba has 22 points.

FC Tokyo beat Hiroshima 1-0 on Satur­day.

Also on Satur­day, Kashima Antlers beat Vis­sel Kobe 2-0 while Vent­foret Kofu and Al­birex Ni­igata fin­ished 0-0. Kashiwa Reysol beat Nagoya Gram­pus 3-1, and first-stage win­ners Urawa Reds set­tled for a 1-1 draw with Sa­gan Tosu.
