5 Acer products win Japan Good Design Award ’15
Five of Acer Inc.’s ( ) products have been honored at the 2015 edition of Japan’s Good Design Awards for their design excellence.
The five award-winning Acer products — the Revo One RL85 mini PC, Aspire R 11 convertible notebook, Aspire Switch 10 E 2- in- 1 convertible notebook, Predator Z35 curved gaming monitor, and K138STi portable LED projector — stood out from over 3,600 entries and will be on display at the Good Design Exhibition in Tokyo from Oct. 30.
“The latest honors from the Good Design Award are recognition of our relentless pursuit of design excellence across our product portfolio,” said Maarten Schellekens, vice president of Acer Global Marketing and Branding, in a statement on Monday.
“With an array of design awards from internationally renowned design institutes under our belt, we will continue to create innovative products that exceed consumers’ expectations, both aesthetically and functionally,” Schellekens said.
The Good Design Award is hosted by the Japan Institute for Design Promotion, a public interest incorporated foundation that was founded by Japan’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry in 1957 as the Good Design Selection System.
Submissions to the Good Design Award come from a wide range of industries, and roughly 1,200 designs are recognized every year. Over the past 59 years, around 42,000 designs have been recognized by the awards.
