‘Govt should stop overtaxing dairy sector’
THE Tanzania Diary Board (TDB) has decried the existence of many institutions dealing in milk production as it hinders effective growth in the dairy sub-sector.
Speaking during a seminar organized for milk processors recently, the Acting Registrar of the TDB, Nelson Kilongozi, said the dairy sub-sector is being managed by many institutions with each having its own charges.
He said the sector is still at its nascent age, noting however, that TDB is currently initiating development strategies that seek to modernize and commercialize it.
“Milk production has increased to 2.4 billion litres but the existence of many institutions managing the production is killing the market.
