Advance Binding Customs Rulings on Valuation, Classification and Origin of Goods
On March 3, 2015, Thai Customs issued three separate Customs Notifications that allow companies to apply for advance binding ruling on: ( i) customs valuation; ( ii) tariff classification; and ( iii) origin of goods. These notifications became effective on March 4, 2015 and provided conditions and guidelines on the application process for such rulings, including checklists for the required documents that need to be submitted with the applications. Applications for an advance binding rulings will only be accepted for future import shipments/ transactions. After receiving the completed applica- tion, Customs will issue the advance binding ruling within 30 working days and the ruling will be valid for two years from the date of issue. This service is currently free, but fees may be charged in the future.
