Thai-American Business (T-AB) Magazine - - Contents - Best regards, Judy Benn Executive Director

This time of the year, while we are busy looking at year- end activities, we also have our eyes on next year and we are starting to look to fill Committee Leadership positions. The Chamber has 25 committees and each committee has two to four leaders who will be responsible for arranging and facilitating their committee’s programs. Each committee reports to a member of the Board, who mentors the committee and reports on committee activities to the AMCHAM Board.

In addition to hosting their own committee meetings we also ask that committee leaders actively participate in other AMCHAM events to network with other Chamber members, encourage committee participation and hear what AMCHAM members have on their minds. If you are interested in being a committee leader and are able to commit six to eight hours a month, then we need you! Please contact me for further details.

If you feel we are lacking a committee in an industry or focus area that may be of interest to our members, we are always open to starting new committees. To gain approval from the AMCHAM Board for a new committee, we require that the potential committee have the support of at least eight member companies, have two committee leaders ready to guide the committee and have a sustainable mission and objectives. If you want to discuss the possibility for a new committee, please let me know.

I am pleased to announce that our newest Committee – Aerospace – received approval from the Board in September. The new Aerospace Committee will support and promote aerospace- oriented industries and develop programs to support aerospace- related projects by improving government- to- industry relationships and increasing understanding of U. S. and Thai aerospace regulations. All AMCHAM members who have an interest in this area are invited to participate in the new Committee. Committee leaders are Jim Grunewald, Redbird, and John Brasch, Triumph Aviation.

You should shortly be receiving your 2016 Membership dues invoice and I sincerely hope that you are receiving value from your membership. AMCHAM continues to be the leading international business organization and the voice of U. S. business in Thailand and works diligently to promote a level playing field for member companies in Thailand.

Already this year we have hosted more than 200 events, meetings, and programs, focused on improving Thailand’s business environment, providing legal and regulatory updates and exploring avenues for exchange of information between members and with leading Thai business executives, government officials, and other leaders.

We continue to advocate the principles of free trade, open markets, private enterprise, the unrestricted flow of information, and ethical business practices. On the CSR side, the annual AMCHAM CSR Excellence Award program will recognize a record 62 companies whose CSR programs exemplify the investment member companies are making in the Thai communities in which they operate. They will be recognized at the Thanksgiving CSR Luncheon coming up on November 24. The AMCHAM Thailand Charitable Foundation has donated Baht 13.5 million to- date towards educational support, including providing 200 scholarships to Thai university students, funding 28 Adopt- a- School project and supporting the Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship program in building English language capacity.

In 2016, the Chamber will be celebrating its auspicious 5th cycle anniversary and 60 years of promoting American business in Thailand. We have a number of special events planned for next year to celebrate this special occasion and announcements on those will be coming out shortly.

A reminder about the Corporate Partnership packages which you may want to consider as a way to increase the visibility of your company as well as support the Chamber, particularly in light of the upcoming 60th anniversary ( see page 51).

We still have a number of events in 2015, including: the Turkey Charitee Golf tournament on November 27th, the annual Festive Holiday Eggnog Party on December 3 and the Holiday Jazzy Luncheon on December 16.

We appreciate your continued support of AMCHAM and look forward to seeing you soon.
