Thai-American Business (T-AB) Magazine - - Amcham’s 60th Anniversary – A Look Back -

Congratulations AMCHAM Thailand on the 60th Anniversary. This celebration marks the opportunity to celebrate past successes and forecast future possibilities. More than ever before, AMCHAM’S representation of U. S. business interests in SE Asia is critically important. AMCHAM Thailand is instrumental to U. S. business interest in Thailand and is now paving the way for Myanmar. Since my retirement from Nike in 2009, I’ve worked to create and now direct a new Master of Science in Sports Product Management at the University of Oregon to prepare students to work for companies like Nike, Underarmour, Adidas, Columbia, etc. To the members, the leadership, and the staff of AMCHAM Thailand, I offer my sincere congratulations on your 60th anniversary. AMCHAM Thailand has a long and storied history of promoting trade and relations between the U. S. and Thailand. It is an active voice in the business community promoting American business in Thailand and a strong proponent of trade. It is my belief that AMCHAM is the voice that all chambers in Thailand look to for guidance. It was truly an honor to have been part of the leadership of AMCHAM Thailand during my stay in Bangkok. While I have recently retired from Citibank, I still do a few things for Citi in the Asian region and I often get to Bangkok. I hope our paths cross there. Once again, congratulations on an important milestone in the Chamber’s history. Congratulation AMCHAM Thailand on your 60th anniversary. AMCHAM has long been and continues to be a strong voice and advocate for American business interests in Thailand and the region. I fondly recall my time on the Board and the honor to serve as President remains one of the great experiences of my time in Thailand. I am glad that AMCHAM continues to attract talented business leaders willing to devote their time and energy to help improve the investment climate - keep up the good work. Best wishes for the future and I am looking forward to celebrating many more impressive achievements. As for me, the last five years I have served as Chevron’s VP, Policy, Government and Public Affairs, based in our corporate headquarters in San Ramon, CA. In February, I was announced as President, Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration and Production Company effective April 1, 2016, so will be spending much more time in the region again soon. AMCHAM Thailand is the touchstone of the American business network in Thailand. Business leaders have benefitted from the Chamber’s economic, industry and political insights to advance Thai and American interests for 60 years. Congratulations Judy and team for holding Thai- American cooperation and development to the highest standards. The only thing more exciting than AMCHAM’S leadership over the past 60 years is its promise going into the future. I am now a VP and GM for 3M back in sunny St. Paul, Minnesota. I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations to the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand for completing 60 glorious years of success. We have always been on the top of the list for serving the U. S. business community with unselfish services. As a past president, I was honored to work with the Chamber leadership and executive office. With your commitment and sincerity you have time and again proved your worth to our members and have gained much deserved recognition and fame in Thailand. With your services, the community has gained a lot. You have always kept member satisfaction as your top priority and it has been my privilege to have been part of the AMCHAM family. I wish AMCHAM continued success for many more years to come. God willing I hope to see each of you again in the future. As for me, Karen and I have officially retired to our home in Austin, Texas. We are looking forward to continuing our journey together no matter where it leads us. Congratulations to the American Chamber of Commerce on celebrating its 60th year of serving American business in Thailand and serving the Kingdom of Thailand and its great people. The American Chamber has accomplished much to be proud of over these past 60 years, from serving both American and Thailand business communities, as well as serving the people of both countries, to its commitment to improving the lives of all it has touched over these past 60 years. I am honored to have served as the Chamber’s President in 2009, and am proud to continue my service to the Chamber, as well as the AMCHAM Thailand Charitable Foundation over these past 10 years. I continue to manage the Fedex business in Thailand and Indochina since my assignment began here in 2006, and look forward to continuing these responsibilities and my work with the Chamber.
