Joseph Geagea, Chevron ( President in 2010)
Congratulations AMCHAM Thailand on your 60th anniversary. As the premier chamber of commerce in a strategic part of Southeast Asia, you have been an advocate for American businesses in Thailand and the region. In the process, you have made Thailand more competitive for foreign investments and showcased all that your member companies do for local communities. It has been a privilege to be a member of AMCHAM and to serve as its president in 2010. I have learned a lot from your members over the years, many of whom I call my friends today. Wishing you continued success and prosperity. My congratulations come with my best wishes and encouragement to the Chamber’s leaders and members to continue for many years to come in providing opportunities for U. S. business to contribute to Thai society in business and social networking and through active CSR engagement. The financial contributions and time commitments of members to the AMCHAM Thailand Charitable Foundation are lasting, both for our members and the students and families in Thailand that benefit from scholarships and the Adopt- a- School program. Having retired to the U. S. I have happily discovered that volun- teerism and helping those in need are firmly embedded in the U. S., and I am grateful to AMCHAM Thailand for championing CSR as a lasting, and very American, contribution to Thailand. WOW! Sixty years of representing American businesses in Thailand. Quite an achievement given the challenges faced along the way. Congratulations AMCHAM Thailand on this year’s celebration. I was honored to be elected President of AMCHAM in 2012. As in any year of working in Thailand, 2012 was full of interesting business opportunities. AMCHAM was right there as usual to meet these head- on. With a caliber Board of Governors and dedicated AMCHAM staff the organization moved ahead ending the year with the highest membership total to date. This is clearly a recognition of the role AMCHAM plays in the international business community of Thailand, not only then, but of course in the future too. Best wishes for much continued success. Congratulations to all Chamber members, staff and Executve Director Judy Benn on the 60th anniversary and wishing Chamber golfers a hole- in- one before the 70th anniversary.
