AMCHAM Executive Director’s Remarks

Thai-American Business (T-AB) Magazine - - Contents - Best Regards, Judy Benn Executive Director

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Songkran and while I would normally include “I hope you stayed dry,” given the heat wave we are experiencing I would like to say I hope you stayed cool!

I want to echo President Brad Middleton’s remarks about the 2016 Governors Ball. It was quite an evening and it was a pleasure to see so many of our members and guests enjoy themselves while celebrating the Chambers 60th anniversary. My thanks also to everyone who helped make the evening a success.

The next big event in our special events category is the Independence Day Picnic to be held on July 2 at NIST International School on Sukhumvit Soi 15. This year we are trying a centrally located venue and we are grateful to NIST for hosting us. The Independence Day Committee has been planning this community- wide event which celebrates U. S. Independence Day since January, but we always need more help. If you could pick one or more areas from below where you or your company could help, that would be appreciated. Please contact Khun Kittie at kittie@ amchamthailand. com for more details:

Sponsor one of the remaining stars on our Star Spangled Banner. In addition to your name or company logo on the banner, you will be given an opportunity to operate a booth with a fun activity and ten entrance tickets; Provide a raffle prize or small giveaway items for the charity game; Volunteer to be on the organizing committee or help us out on the day.

All proceeds from the event go to the AMCHAM Thailand Charitable Foundation ( ATCF) which supports the Chamber’s educational programs, so it is all for a good cause.

Speaking of the Foundation, a reminder that the ATCF is again offering matching funds for the Adopt- a- School program. The Chamber office has a list of schools which require support, such as a playground, library, water tanks and filtration systems, and other needed items. You can also propose a school you have identified as needy and if it meets our criteria, it is also eligible. The Foundation will match 100% up to Baht 100,000 for donations received while matching funds last. Twenty- five percent of the funds have already been allocated to donations, so don’t delay in making a donation. You can contact Sheree at sheree@ amchamthailand. com for details.

Lastly, we are working hard on this year’s Membership Directory. Notices have been sent out to members on updating their membership details, representatives and pictures. This deadline is set as May 13th, but if you missed it, there is still time prior to May 20th to update your details. We also still have promotional space if you wish to promote your company’s products and services, and there is also the ability to have a full page listing in the Directory. We print 2,500 copies of the Directory which are sent to all members in addition to the U. S. Embassy and Royal Thai Government, other Chambers and stakeholders of the U. S. business community. For more details on this, please contact Deanna at Deanna@ amchamthailand. com.

See you at the next AMCHAM event!
