Joint Cham­bers Net­work­ing Event U. S. Busi­ness Del­e­ga­tion Meets with New Myan­mar Gov­ern­ment

On May 17 and 18, thirty- six mem­bers of the AMCHAM Myan­mar Chap­ter, un­der the lead­er­ship of the U. S. Am­bas­sador to Myan­mar, Scot Mar­ciel, met a num­ber of newly ap­pointed gov­ern­ment of­fi­cials from thir­teen min­istries in Nay Pyi Taw: Plan­ning and Fi­nance;

On May 19, at the ini­tia­tive of AMCHAM’S Myan­mar Chap­ter, twelve for­eign cham­bers of com­merce and busi­ness as­so­ci­a­tions from Aus­tralia, UK, France, Ja­pan, Ger­many, Malaysia, New Zealand, Sin­ga­pore, Swe­den, and Thailand, gath­ered at Mahlzeit Restau­rant for the third Joint Cham­bers Net­work­ing Event. The gath­er­ing at­tracted more than 130 mem­bers from var­i­ous busi­ness sec­tors, who en­joyed fin­ger food and drinks kindly do­nated by the fol­low­ing spon­sors: Mahlzeit Restau­rant, Savoy Ho­tel, Aye Thar Yar Wine, Carls­berg Beer, IBTC - Grand Royal Whiskey, Loi Hein – Wilkin­son, and Mar­bled Black. The event raised al­most MMK 900,000 for AMCHAM Myan­mar Chap­ter’s schol­ar­ship pro­gram.

To qual­ify for an ACE recog­ni­tion, a firm’s CSR pro­gram must re­ceive high- marks in four key cri­te­ria:

• At­ten­tion to busi­ness ob­jec­tives and so­ci­etal needs; • Cre­ation of long- term eco­nomic and so­cial gains; • Com­mu­ni­ca­tion and shar­ing of best prac­tices; and • Pro­gram sus­tain­abil­ity. • Recog­ni­tion at the AMCHAM Monthly Lunch in
