On July 8, committee members gathered at the Westin Grande Sukhumvit to hear about living in a digital world and about how HR organizations should learn to stop worrying and love technology. Customs & Excise
On July 13, committee members gathered at AMCHAM’S Citi Boardroom to discuss the new rules and regulations for Customs Free Zones and the requirement of putting security for all appeals made to the Customs. On July 13, the committee met at Mexicano Restaurante at the Rembrandt Hotel to hear a presentation by Gregory M. Wong, Commercial Counselor, and Kitisorn Sookpradist, Commercial Specialist, at U. S. Embassy Bangkok, about how U. S. exporters in Thailand can use the Embassy for leverage. Eastern Seaboard Networking
On July 15, members of the foreign chambers gathered at Courtyard by Marriott Pattaya for an Eastern Seaboard networking hosted by Austcham and held in conjunction with the American, British, Dutch, German, Mexican, Singaporean, South African and Belgian- Luxembourg chambers of commerce in Thailand. On July 26, the committee met at the British Chamber of Commerce in Thailand’s office to hear a panel discussion of U. S., UK, and Thai anti- corruption laws and how they affect business. U. S. Senate Finance Committee Briefing
On August 9, AMCHAM members met with Everett Eissenstat, Chief International Trade Counsel, and staffers from the U. S. On August 15, the committee met at JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok, to hear an introduction to the new Business Collateral Act and the creation of new types of collateral under Thai law from lawyers from Clifford Chance. On August 19, members of the foreign chambers gathered at Pullman Pattaya Hotel G for networking hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce in Thailand ( BCCT) and held in conjunction with the American, Australian, German, Singaporean, South African, and Dutch chambers of commerce and Beluthai. On August 11, the committee met in AMCHAM’S Citi Boardroom to hear about Sustainable Development Goals & the Private Sector from Martin Hart- Hansen, Deputy Resident Representative, United Nations Development Program ( UNDP) and Edward Clarence- Smith, Regional Representative and Director of United Nations Industrial Development Organization ( UNIDO).
