AMCHAM Executive Director’s Remarks
In deference to the people of Thailand on the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, we cancelled several social events over the last few weeks, but continued to hold our business- focused programs under the guidance of the Royal Thai Government that business needed to continue.
We have a number of our traditional holiday events coming up soon – the Thanksgiving Charitee Golf Tournament on November 25, the annual Eggnog Gettogether on December 8 and the end- ofyear Monthly Luncheon on December 14. All of these activities will be held as normal, except that we will tone down the celebratory aspects of the events. Both the golf tournament and Eggnog are fundraising events for the AMCHAM scholarship fund and the Mercy Centre so we felt that it was important that we continue to sup- port these two worthwhile activities as they contribute to the well- being of Thai students and disadvantaged children. The December lunch is an opportunity to thank the Chamber membership for their support this year. We hope that you can join us for these events.
Around the time you receive this edition of the T- AB Magazine you should also be receiving the invoice for your company’s 2017 AMCHAM membership dues. We wish to point out that due to the Chamber’s healthy cash reserves and the generous support we have had from the Chamber’s Corporate Partnership Program, there will be no increase in dues for next year. However, the Chamber is making some important investments for 2017, including hopefully hiring a Government Affairs Director and increased advocacy activity so we are planning on providing additional value to your AMCHAM membership.
As mentioned above, the Corporate Partnership Program is an important part of the Chamber’s financial structure and provides about twenty- five percent of the Chamber’s revenue each year. The Partnership Packages include a number of sponsorship activities including the annual ball, sports tournaments and promotional spaces in the AMCHAM T- AB Magazine and annual Membership Directory, as well as visibility on the AMCHAM website and at many of the AMCHAM events during the year. It also includes unlimited membership to allow companies to list as many representatives in the AMCHAM database as they wish. Full details on the Corporate Partnership Packages can be found on page 55 and please feel free to contact me with any questions. About this time of year, the Chamber starts to reflect on what we have accomplished during the year and starts to plan for the following year. Part of the planning cycle is a review of AMCHAM’S Committees, their missions and deliverables and to reach out to the Committee Leadership team for feedback. In some cases, we have Committee Leaders who will not be returning for 2017 which leads to Committee Leadership openings. The Chamber has 22 Committees and each has two to four leaders who are responsible for the programming content of their Committees ( logistics and communications are the responsibility of the AMCHAM Committee Coordinator assigned to assist each Committee). Each Committee reports to a member of the Board, who mentors the Committee and reports on committee activities to the AMCHAM Board. We also request that Committee leaders actively participate in other AMCHAM events to network with Chamber members and to hear what AMCHAM members have on their mind.
If you have an interest in a Committee Leadership position or have questions about the Committees, please let me know.
We appreciate your continued support of AMCHAM and hope to see you at one of the upcoming year- end events. Best regards, Judy Benn Executive Director
