On November 10, the committee met at COFFEEWORKS Experience Center to hear about “Coffee Harvesting: Processing and Roasting Production – Working with northern Thai Coffee Producers through direct- trade relationships” from the Coffeeworks team. On November 30, the committee met at the AMCHAM office for a presentation on “Generation Water- Real Problems, Real Solutions for Hotels & Beyond” by Ryan Kohler and Meghan Kerrigan of South African- based Generation Water. On Nov 11, the committee gathered at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit for the Annual Compensation and Benefits Forum. On November 30, the Young Professionals Committee and friends gathered at W XYZTM Bar at the Aloft Hotel for social networking night and raised Baht 17,010 for the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand Foundation ( ATF)’ s Adopta- School program. State of Trade in Asia Briefing
On December 1, Deborah Elms of the Asian Trade Centre held a briefing at the AMCHAM office on the state of trade in Asia following the U. S. elections and spoke about her views on the future of the Trans- Pacific Partnership ( TPP) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership ( RCEP), as well as on the broad Asia trade policy. On December 13, the committee welcomed Kulit Sombatsiri, the Director General of the Customs Department at AMCHAM’S Citi Boardroom to discuss the new Customs Alliance program. Briefing on Myanmar Sanctions
On December 2, members interested in doing business in Myanmar gathered at the AMCHAM office to hear one of the premier experts on U. S. sanctions on Myanmar, Eric Rose of Herzfeld Rubin Meyer & Rose, talk about the implications of the easing of sanctions, as well as about Myanmar’s eligibility for the General System of Preferences ( GSP) and what that means for businesses in Myanmar. On December 8, the committee met at AMCHAM’S Citi boardroom to hear a presentation by Gregory Lamont, Thailand Tax Partner and editor at Pricewaterhousecoopers ABAS Ltd, who give an update of the American tax law changes and key issues to be aware for the 2016 year- end tax planning and tax reporting. Joint Chambers Eastern Seaboard Networking
On December 16, members of the foreign chambers gathered at Amari Pattaya for a networking evening hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce in Thailand ( BCCT) and held in conjunction with the American, Australian, German, Singaporean, South African, and Dutch chambers of commerce and Beluthai.
