Young Pro­fes­sion­als

On Novem­ber 30, the Young Pro­fes­sion­als Com­mit­tee and friends gath­ered at W XYZTM Bar at the Aloft Ho­tel for so­cial net­work­ing night and raised Baht 17,010 for the Amer­i­can Cham­ber of Com­merce in Thai­land Foun­da­tion ( ATF)’ s Adopta- School pro­gram. State of Trade in Asia Brief­ing

On De­cem­ber 1, Deb­o­rah Elms of the Asian Trade Cen­tre held a brief­ing at the AMCHAM of­fice on the state of trade in Asia fol­low­ing the U. S. elec­tions and spoke about her views on the future of the Trans- Pa­cific Part­ner­ship ( TPP) and the Re­gional Com­pre­hen­sive Eco­nomic Part­ner­ship ( RCEP), as well as on the broad Asia trade pol­icy. On De­cem­ber 2, mem­bers in­ter­ested in do­ing busi­ness in Myan­mar gath­ered at the AMCHAM of­fice to hear one of the premier ex­perts on U. S. sanc­tions on Myan­mar, Eric Rose of Herzfeld Ru­bin Meyer & Rose, talk about the im­pli­ca­tions of the eas­ing of sanc­tions, as well as about Myan­mar’s el­i­gi­bil­ity for the Gen­eral Sys­tem of Pref­er­ences ( GSP) and what that means for busi­nesses in Myan­mar. On De­cem­ber 8, the com­mit­tee met at AMCHAM’S Citi board­room to hear a pre­sen­ta­tion by Gregory La­mont, Thai­land Tax Part­ner and ed­i­tor at Price­wa­ter­house­c­oop­ers ABAS Ltd, who give an up­date of the Amer­i­can tax law changes and key is­sues to be aware for the 2016 year- end tax plan­ning and tax re­port­ing. Joint Cham­bers East­ern Se­aboard Net­work­ing

On De­cem­ber 16, mem­bers of the for­eign cham­bers gath­ered at Amari Pat­taya for a net­work­ing evening hosted by the Bri­tish Cham­ber of Com­merce in Thai­land ( BCCT) and held in con­junc­tion with the Amer­i­can, Aus­tralian, Ger­man, Sin­ga­porean, South African, and Dutch cham­bers of com­merce and Be­luthai.
