In recognition of the tenth anniversary of the CSR Awards and the 60th anniversary of AMCHAM, four new awards were introduced this year: ‘ best in class’ awards for both multinational companies and SMES that were presented to Chevron and Top Scholars respectively; the U. S. Ambassador’s Award, presented by U. S. Ambassador Glyn Davies to La- guna Resorts for their Seedlings Phuket program; and the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy Award in honor of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, presented by former Governor of the Bank of Thailand, Dr. Prasarn Trairatvorakul, to Chevron for their Pa Sek Watershed Rehabilitation program.
Ambassador Davies congratulated the awardees and applauded their innovative programs aimed at bolstering the communities in which they operate. “AMCHAM Thailand members are exceptionally important architects of diplomacy, prosperity, and friendship between Thailand and America,” he said. “American businesses contribute to Thailand’s development by continuously expanding their investment and operations, increasing their employees’ skills, and giving back to the communities where they live and operate.” AMCHAM Board Vice President, Mark Kaufman, who opened the ceremony, reflected on the importance of giving back and giving thanks: “Let’s not forget that tonight we also observe Thanksgiving, an American holiday that celebrates values and traditions such as gratitude, generosity and coming together. These are values that we all need more of in our lives at the end of a year that has been emotionally challenging for so many,” he said. “So let’s take this evening to honor and give thanks to one another for tirelessly working toward a common goal: a prosperous Thailand.”
Special designations were given to firms that have received the ACE award for five consecutive years ( Gold Award), three consecutive years ( Silver Award), firms with excellence in creativity and innovation ( Creative Partnerships), and recognition for small and medium- sized businesses ( SMES).
