Committee Leadership: Jim Grunewald, Redbird; John Brasch, Triumph Aviation Board Liaison: David Carden, Fedex

2016 Accomplishments:

This was the first full year for the aerospace committee with 10 monthly meetings held throughout the year. Committee membership has increased to over 40 members, up from the original 8, who signed on as plankowner members in late 2015. Much of their focus this year has been to understand the various Thai government programs recently put in place to promote Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul ( MRO) aerospace business. Some of the notable speakers include Deputy Secretary General Ajarin Pattanapanchai from the Thailand Board of Investment, Rear Admiral Worapol Tongpricha, the Airport Director of the U- tapao International Airport and Jacob Siefers, the Regional Director for Sikorsky International products.

Much of the committee discussion involved aerospace supply chain and qualifying suppliers to be NADCAP- certified. Several of the committee members provided company overviews at the start of each monthly meeting and topics, such as comparisons of regional tax incentives and summaries of the applicable Thai Customs Department business conferences were prepared and posted to AMCHAM’S committee web page.

Throughout the year the committee identified areas that need emphasis in promoting the aerospace industry in Thailand and the committee has worked to get those issues into the proper government channels in both Thailand and the United States. The committee would like to thank the membership for their enthusiastic participation and to the numerous other AMCHAM com- mittees which have provided guidance on issues of mutual interest. The committee looks forward to 2017 with special significance to provide the membership with timely information and superior understanding of the regional aerospace sector to continue to compete for global business.
