Cash Pay­ment for Stamp Duty for Com­pany Reg­is­tra­tion Doc­u­ments

On May 29, the No­ti­fi­ca­tion of the Direc­tor- Gen­eral of the Rev­enue De­part­ment on Stamp Duty No. 56, dated April 27, 2017 ( the No­ti­fi­ca­tion) was pub­lished in the Gov­ern­ment Gazette.

Ac­cord­ing to the No­ti­fi­ca­tion, pay­ment of stamp duty for doc­u­ments re­gard­ing com­pany reg­is­tra­tion that are sub­ject to stamp duty un­der the Rev­enue Code e. g. the Mem­o­ran­dum of As­so­ci­a­tion, the Ar­ti­cles of As­so­ci­a­tion, and the Power of At­tor­ney, must be made in cash be­fore or at least on the date of reg­is­tra­tion. This rule is en­force­able for elec­tronic com­pany reg­is­tra­tion ( the DBD’S e- Reg­is­tra­tion) from April 18, 2017 and be­came ef­fec­tive for tra­di­tional com­pany reg­is­tra­tion ( non- elec­tronic com­pany reg­is­tra­tion) on Au­gust 1, 2017.
