Po­lice raids lead to se­ries of drug ar­rests and seizures in Su­rat Thani

Su­rat Thani po­lice cap­tured two drug sus­pects and seized a large amount of “ice” crys­tal metham­phetamine and “yaba” am­phet­a­mine pills on Sun­day night in Su­rat Thani’s Wiang Sa district, fol­low­ing an ear­lier bust that net­ted an al­leged drug dealer in pos­ses­sion of nar­cotics worth Bt12 mil­lion.

On Sun­day night, Su­rat Thani su­per­in­ten­dent Pol Colonel Satha­porn Pat­ta­narak led 20 po­lice of­fi­cers in a raid of a house in Tam­bon Wiang Sa where a large amount of il­licit drugs was be­ing stored pend­ing dis­tri­bu­tion.

Of­fi­cers ar­rested Thaweesak Sae­tan, 34, and Patcharawan Thong­boonchuay, 34, and seized 317 grams of ice, 21,600 yaba pills, two guns and 86 bul­lets at the house.

The raid fol­lowed the ar­rest of al­leged drug dealer Arkhom Muang­bum­rung, 41, in Phun Phin district and the seizure of 57,780 yaba pills, 687.44 grams of ice and two loaded guns.

Arkhom was re­leased from prison 10 months ago on a royal par­don af­ter serv­ing nine years for rob­bery. He was also wanted for an at­tempt mur­der charge in Ban Na Derm district last week prior to the drug bust.
