MAJORITY OF TURKISH ASYLUM SEEKERS TURNED DOWN BY GERMANY

Germany has reportedly turned down a majority of Turkish asylum-seekers in the first eight months of this year, the German language daily Der Tagesspieg­el reported yesterday. The report claimed that Germany's Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) evaluated some 8,547 applicatio­ns between January and August, of which 5,040 were turned down on grounds of having no basis. It also claimed that a number of Turkish nationals were deported by German authoritie­s this year, including four in Berlin and two in Saxony and added that some 6,784 Turkish nationals were facing deportatio­n by Aug. 31.
