- BARI İM EK – ANKARA

The Women and Democracy Association (KADEM) has initiated an employment training program for Syrian women in the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa. KADEM Şanlıurfa President Vildan Polat said their aim was to train university graduates to use computers for secretarial duties. Syrian women who want to work will be taught computer programs in Turkish. Polat said they were in discussions with schools that teach Syrians and initially plan to train 100 Syrians who will later be able to work in the Organized Industrial Zones around the region. She also said they were working to increase girls’ school attendance rates. “The main reason why parents do not send their girls to school is financial. We visit families one by one and encourage them to educate their girls.”
