ATATÜRK TO BE COMMEMORATED ON ANNIVERSARY OF DEATH

Turkey today marks the 79th anniversary of the death of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Republic of Turkey. At 9:05 a.m., the time he passed away in 1938, sirens will sound across the country and the nation will observe two minutes of silence in remembrance. Nationwide commemoration ceremonies will also be held.
