Driver jailed for sex attack on young girl in car
A driver has been sentenced to one year in jail for pulling an eight-yearold girl out of a supermarket and sexually abusing her. The 38-year-old Pakistani man denied a sexual assault charge when he appeared at court in February. Prosecutors at a Dubai Court of First Instance said that on November 30 last year the Pakistani girl was buying some items for her mother from a supermarket near her house in Al Rashidiya. She said the accused saw her and started a conversation with her. “He brought me fruit and asked me to try it, but I refused and went home,” the girl said in official records. “My mother told me that I bought the wrong item and asked me to return to the supermarket and purchase the correct one.” She said the accused pulled her out of the supermarket and into his car, where he assaulted her. The court heard how she begged him to let her go and cried before he drove her home and told her not to tell her family about what happened. Prosecutors said that CCTV footage showed the accused pulling the girl out of the supermarket.
