A team from the Khal­ifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foun­da­tion has ar­rived in So­ma­lia to dis­trib­ute ur­gent aid to 10,000 peo­ple in the prov­ince of Bo­rama who have been dis­placed by the flood­ing that has rav­aged the dis­trict. The cam­paign is in im­ple­men­ta­tion of the di­rec­tives of Pres­i­dent HH Sheikh Khal­ifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and HH Sheikh Mo­hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Com­man­der of the UAE Armed Forces. A spokesman from the or­gan­i­sa­tion told news agency WAM that the foun­da­tion has so far dis­trib­uted 2,500 food parcels con­tain­ing wa­ter, sugar, flour, and dates to those af­fected, and is in the process of pre­par­ing an­other 5,000 aid bas­kets for distri­bu­tion. This fol­lows on from a warn­ing by the United Na­tions that 58,000 chil­dren will die if ac­tion is not taken.
