‘It hap­pens to those who don’t de­serve it’

The fam­ily of an off-duty UAE sol­dier who was stabbed sev­eral times dur­ing a fight and left to die on a Fu­jairah beach have de­scribed him as a “quiet guy who wanted to help peo­ple”.

Po­lice say Ab­dul­lah Ali Rashid Al Kindi was fa­tally stabbed by a friend fol­low­ing a fight dur­ing a bar­be­cue in the Al Math­lat area.

Fu­jairah Po­lice have ar­rested a 21-year-old Emi­rati in con­nec­tion with the stab­bing.

Al Kindi, 23, was found on Fu­jairah Cor­niche but died in hospi­tal.

Now, his broth­ers have spo­ken of their loss and the at­tack on their sib­ling who should have been join­ing the UAE Armed Forces in Ye­men, but was kept at home by an in­jury.

Jas­sim Al Kindi, 32, told 7DAYS: “I am still in a state of shock. I grew up with him and he was a quiet guy.

“He al­ways wanted to help peo­ple. It’s just crazy. It al­ways hap­pens to the peo­ple who don't de­serve it.”

“Ab­dul­lah was a sol­dier and he was sup­posed to go to Ye­men as part of the UAE Armed Forces’ in­volve­ment in the Saudi-led coali­tion's Op­er­a­tion Restor­ing Hope to bring back le­git­i­macy in the By Nawal Al Ramahi war-torn country. How­ever, he could not go be­cause of his health con­di­tion as he was suf­fer­ing from back pain due to a slipped disc.”

Jas­sim added: “I be­lieve that more than one per­son was in­volved in the mur­der of my brother. It is a planned mur­der, my brother was lured to the beach.”

An­other sib­ling, Salem Ali Rashid Al Kindi, 40, said: “No one can pre­pare you for a loss; it comes like a swift wind. There is no big­ger loss than los­ing my brother.”

Po­lice said the sus­pect was ar­rested eight hours af­ter Ab­dul­lah’s body was found and that they are still try­ing to de­ter­mine a cause of the fight.

Colonel Mo­hammed Al Shaer, di­rec­tor of CID at Fu­jairah Po­lice, told 7DAYS: “The sus­pect said they fought over a per­sonal mat­ter.”

Lt Colonel Saeed Mo­hammed Al Has­sani, Head of In­for­ma­tion and PR at Fu­jairah Po­lice, said: “Our sym­pa­thies are with the fam­ily. We are pro­vid­ing them with sup­port.”
