Fes­ti­val go­ers over­dose

The sec­ond night of a ma­jor elec­tronic mu­sic fes­ti­val be­ing held in Ar­gentina’s cap­i­tal was can­celled fol­low­ing the deaths of at least five peo­ple of sus­pected drug over­doses. An­other five fes­ti­val-go­ers were in crit­i­cal con­di­tion yes­ter­day. Health of­fi­cials in Buenos Aires said that two peo­ple in their 20s died dur­ing the Time Warp fes­ti­val on Fri­day and three oth­ers died in an am­bu­lance or at a hospi­tal. Most of the crit­i­cally-ill youths were re­port­edly in co­mas. “They are all in very grave con­di­tion, in­tu­bated,” Dr Al­berto Cres­centi, di­rec­tor of the Emer­gency Med­i­cal At­ten­tion Sys­tem in Buenos Aires, told Todo Noti­cias. Doc­tors are try­ing to de­ter­mine the cause of death and are wait for post mortem re­sults. On Satur­day, of­fi­cials in Buenos Aires an­nounced they had closed the Costa Salguero Cen­tre where the sec­ond night of the two-night fes­ti­val was to be held.
