Hit and run on baby bird shocks morning walker

7 Days in Dubai - - DEAR 7 DAYS -

Taking my morning walk around Victory Heights I saw a little family of beautiful Quail attempting to cross the road and as we approached the roundabout me and my friend pointed to them. Along came a big black car, the driver of which must have seen the quail, and must have seen us pointing. But no attempt was made by him to slow down or stop.... He just ploughed through and we watched in horror as he ran across one of the babies - and then just carried on driving. He saw what had happened for sure as we looked at him in sheer disbelief. My friend gently carried the baby off the road and we put it on the grass and could hear the mother screeching getting very anxious and upset. The poor thing had a damaged wing. We left it there for the mother bird to then intervene. I just don’t understand that sort of behaviour. But sadly it isn’t surprising, yet still shocking to witness. I hope the little thing recovers.

On a wing and a prayer Dubai
