Reader wants creek area to retain it’s natural beauty…

It was pleasing to read the UAE has signed the 170-nation climate accord. However, I would like to add that signing is not the same as preserving the natural environment. Therefore I plead with the government to not allow any building along the river bank in Deira, which will tear up the natural flora. These trees have grown for centuries and provide clean air and shade, it provides a natural refuge for people to relax on weekends, to enjoy sitting outside in the shade rather than in a coffee shop. To destroy this natural landscape will erode the beauty of Dubai. We do not need more tar, cement and sand, these trees grow naturally so there is no need for artificial flora, this area needs to come under the Heritage Act to preserve Dubai rather than build another expensive mall. Please don’t allow building along the banks of the river. Hope Dubai
