Is Tiger ready to return?

Tiger Woods has played his first holes of golf since the Wyndham Championship last August, but has refused to set a date for his competitive return.

The 14-time major winner played five holes with former Open and Masters champion Mark O’Meara at the official opening of the course he designed at Bluejack National Golf Club.

“I’m definitely a little tired but I feel pretty good,” said Woods. “This is actually the first time I’ve played holes since Wyndham. It’s been a while. I’m just progressing. “You saw how I was going at it, nice and smooth. That’s harder than I have been going at it the last month. Just gradually progressing. “We’re just trying to progress and I’m doing that.” The 40-year-old underwent two major back surgeries last year and in December was unsure whether he would ever return to action.

But having finally returned to the golf course Woods was still unwilling to confirm when he would next play at a tournament.

He added: “I haven’t set any date to when I’m playing again, which is frustrating to say. But to be honest, that’s what I’ve had to do. I’ve had to go with that mindset.

“Would I have said that five months ago? No way. Keep improving. Keep getting better. And I’m doing that.”
