Locked fire exits in our building are a real danger

7 Days in Dubai - - DEAR 7DAYS... -

Is anyone else facing the danger of living in an apartment block with locked fire exits? l send this letter to raise awareness as despite voicing my concerns to the building management on April 4 and sending no less than four reminders l heard nothing but one reply to say ‘we are looking into it’, but nothing has changed. I am resident of Marina Residence 3 and l am faced with locked fire escape doors in my building, with the exception of the ground floor. The implications should there be a fire on the ground floor preventing exit on this floor and thus the need to exit through another floor are not worth contemplating. With all floors locked there would be no escape and l hate to think what the casualties could be. I am told the reason for locking these doors was to prevent certain people from delivering their business cards under the doors. Whilst l appreciate that this is not something that is wanted or encouraged, surely the safety of the tenants is far more important. What is the role of the security guards? Should they not be making routine trips
