Pe­nalised for try­ing to can­cel my credit card

I called my bank re­quest­ing can­cel­la­tion of my credit card, which I had al­ready asked to be blocked. I was ad­vised by the phone bank­ing of­fi­cer that they do not han­dle can­cel­la­tions and was re­ferred to my lo­cal branch. Fur­ther to that I was ad­vised that since my card was blocked I needed to get it re-is­sued at a fee and that could only be done at my branch. When I got to the branch I was ad­vised that can­cel­la­tions can be han­dled only by the call cen­tre. Since I work shifts I could not visit the bank on the same day. All the while my card kept ac­cru­ing daily charges, which could have been avoided if I had been given the cor­rect in­for­ma­tion in the first place. Mu­gash Dubai
