Blueprint for 3D printing centre revealed
Dubai Holding has launched the International Centre for 3D Printing. The move is in line with the directives of UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to make Dubai an international hub for 3D printing by 2030. The project, at Dubai Industrial City, aims to bring a network of design and technology suppliers as well as factories under one roof. It will include research centres and laboratories for testing materials used in 3D printed products for sectors such as construction, medicine, and consumer products sectors. The Dubai 3D Printing Strategy launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid focuses on three major sectors - construction, medical products and consumer products - and aims to 3D print 25 per cent of buildings in Dubai by 2030.
