Blue­print for 3D print­ing centre re­vealed

Dubai Hold­ing has launched the In­ter­na­tional Centre for 3D Print­ing. The move is in line with the di­rec­tives of UAE Vice Pres­i­dent and Prime Min­is­ter and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mo­hammed bin Rashid Al Mak­toum to make Dubai an in­ter­na­tional hub for 3D print­ing by 2030. The project, at Dubai In­dus­trial City, aims to bring a net­work of de­sign and tech­nol­ogy sup­pli­ers as well as fac­to­ries un­der one roof. It will in­clude re­search cen­tres and lab­o­ra­to­ries for test­ing ma­te­ri­als used in 3D printed prod­ucts for sec­tors such as con­struc­tion, medicine, and con­sumer prod­ucts sec­tors. The Dubai 3D Print­ing Strat­egy launched by Sheikh Mo­hammed bin Rashid fo­cuses on three ma­jor sec­tors - con­struc­tion, med­i­cal prod­ucts and con­sumer prod­ucts - and aims to 3D print 25 per cent of build­ings in Dubai by 2030.
