LOOK WHO’S COMING BACK
Star confirmed to close Grand Prix
International superstar Rihanna will be bringing her Anti World Tour to Abu Dhabi on Sunday, November 27, as she headlines this year’s Yasalam after-race concerts at Yas Island’s du Arena during the Formula One weekend.
Organisers Flash Entertainment and Yas Marina Circuit announced two of the three main acts yesterday that will hold gigs during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend, which is scheduled to take place on November 25-27.
Performing on the opening day of the race, November 25, are English electronic dance giants the Chemical Brothers.
“This will be the first time The Chemical Brothers have performed in the Middle East,” said Reeva Bains, Vice President, Marketing and Communications, Flash.
Headliner Rihanna, however, is no stranger to the capital, having already performed in Abu Dhabi in 2009 and again in 2013 during her
Diamonds World Tour.
“Rihanna’s show is definitely going to be a big closing to the F1 weekend this year,” said Bains. It’s an announcement that usually takes place a month or so before the F1 races, this year organisers decided to reveal the after-race concert artists much in advance to increase international attraction and allow guests to plan their trips ahead of time.
“Year on year we focus on getting the best and current artists for the after-race concerts and drive international ticket sales with the level of entertainment we have to offer,” Bains said.
And it won’t be long to wait before people find out who will be headlining the Saturday.
“We are working on a big surprise for our Saturday after race performer and they will be announced before the summer,” said Bains.
