Prosecutors said the Russian had also written some captions on her Facebook page advertising sex services so that interested men could contact her.

An undercover police agent posing as a customer contacted the woman after he got her mobile phone through social media.

And when the woman came to meet the By Ismail Sebugwaawo officer at a hotel in the capital for sex, the woman was arrested.

Prosecutors earlier told the court that the Russian had rented an apartment in one of the hotels in the capital, where she would take men.

The woman allegedly confessed to police and prosecutors that she was engaged in prostitution.

She denied charges of prostitution and promoting the sex trade.

She told Chief Justice Idris bin Mansour that her earlier confessions had been made under moral and physical duress. But the court convicted her based on the evidence presented by prosecutors. The woman will be deported after serving her sentence.
