Firm wins right to use iPhone on its prod­ucts

Ap­ple Inc has lost a le­gal fight with a Chi­nese com­pany that a Bei­jing court says is al­lowed to use the iPhone name on its prod­ucts. An of­fi­cial le­gal news­pa­per said the Bei­jing Mu­nic­i­pal Higher Peo­ple’s Court ruled Ap­ple failed to prove iPhone was well-known in China be­fore the lo­cal com­pany ap­plied for a trade­mark with that name in 2007. The Le­gal Daily said the rul­ing is­sued in late April al­lows Xin­tong Tiandi Tech­nol­ogy to keep us­ing the iPhone brand. The com­pany sells hand­bags, mo­bile phone cases and other leather goods with that name.
