Contouring up a storm

7 Days in Dubai - - LIFE -

Rodial is one of those skincare labels that you’ll always find people talking about. Often it’s the dramatic names of its products; Dragon’s Blood, Snake Serum and Stem Cell oils. Otherwise, it’s the many celebrity endorsements those products attract. Victoria Beckham, Jessica Biel and Angelina Jolie are just a few of the famous ladies who swear by at least something in the range. And then there are the Kardashians. Specifically Kim and half sister Kylie Jenner are renowned for their use of contouring using Rodial products. At the range’s recent launch, the Rodial make-up artist demonstrated the striking effects that can be achieved with a (large) handful of products. But we don’t all have our own make-up artist so is this kind of technique really accessible to us normal women? Yes it is, says Rodial founder, Maria Hatzistefanis. “You can do it in five minutes - if you practice!” she tells us, adding that there are easy-to-follow tutorials that show you how on the brand’s YouTube channel @MrsRodial. Gemma, the make-up artist, agrees: “I do this on the train on the way to work,” she claims. Even if you don’t have quite that steady a hand yourself, the range is pretty accessible. And it helps to know so many stars are fans. “It’s obviously great for any brand to get their products talked about by celebrities,” admits Hatzistefanis. “That obviously gets you attention. But at the end of the day, female celebrities are like any other woman. They want products that are great, they want to look good and they want products that are effective.” Who are we to argue? Now about those tutorials...
