Salons fail to make the cut
Scores of salons and beauty centres in Abu Dhabi have been fined for poor hygiene and flouting other municipal rules. Abu Dhabi Municipality yesterday said they recorded 77 violations against women’s salons and beauty parlours in Al Wathba and other areas during inspection campaigns carried out between January and March this year. More than 100 warnings were also issued to other salons caught flouting rules. Among the offences committed by parlours were using soiled or non-sterilised towels. Municipal officials said they also seized 155 packets of expired and unlicensed products, such as creams, fragrances, skin cleansers and hair dye. Firms can be fined Dhs5,000 on the spot for violations.
