Sa­lons fail to make the cut

Scores of sa­lons and beauty cen­tres in Abu Dhabi have been fined for poor hy­giene and flout­ing other mu­nic­i­pal rules. Abu Dhabi Mu­nic­i­pal­ity yes­ter­day said they recorded 77 vi­o­la­tions against women’s sa­lons and beauty par­lours in Al Wathba and other ar­eas dur­ing in­spec­tion cam­paigns car­ried out be­tween Jan­uary and March this year. More than 100 warn­ings were also is­sued to other sa­lons caught flout­ing rules. Among the of­fences com­mit­ted by par­lours were us­ing soiled or non-ster­ilised tow­els. Mu­nic­i­pal of­fi­cials said they also seized 155 pack­ets of expired and un­li­censed prod­ucts, such as creams, fra­grances, skin cleansers and hair dye. Firms can be fined Dhs5,000 on the spot for vi­o­la­tions.
