Just weeks be­fore his 43rd birth­day, New York Mets pitcher Bar­tolo Colon fi­nally hit the first home run of his long ca­reer. Team-mates, fans in the sta­dium and base­ball fol­low­ers on Twit­ter watched in amaze­ment as he con­nected for a two-run home run in the Mets’ 6-3 vic­tory over the San Diego Padres. At 42 years and 349 days old, Colon is the sec­ond-old­est Mets player to hit a home run. “I don’t even know how to ex­plain it,” said Colon. “I’m very thank­ful for this amaz­ing mo­ment.”
