This is believed to be the spot where a businessman was shot nine times as he sat in his car in the parking area of a Dubai Marina tower.

The Iranian national, believed to be a 50-yearold property investor, was blasted in the head with a silenced pistol before his attackers fled, police said on Tuesday.

Two cones stood close to what one member of staff said is thought to be the scene of the killing in the underground parking garage at the Fairooz Building.

When 7DAYS visited the site yesterday, security guards and workers in Emaar shirts were patrolling the building’s perimeter and the dimlylit parking area, where residents continued to park throughout the day.

The luxury Fairooz Building was among the first towers to be built in the marina and three bedroom apartments can cost Dhs300,000 in rent.

A number of expensive cars were parked nearby, including a Bentley close to the scene.

Two plain-clothed policemen, who identified themselves as CID officers, said they had closed off the man’s apartment. Dubai Police Chief General Khamis Mattar Al Muzaina on Tuesday confirmed the suspects in the shooting are Canadian and Iranian passport holders, but declined to give further details, including the man’s identity.

7DAYS spoke to one resident of a neighbouring tower, which shares the parking area with Fairooz residents. She said police swarmed the scene after the attack took place in the early hours of May 4.

The woman, who asked not to be named, said a group of young women wearing veils were seen in the parking garage screaming, “they killed my brother” and crying beside an ambulance as police swarmed the scene.

Another woman, a mother of two children, said: “I’m freaked out because I don’t know what happened or whether I should be concerned or not.”

She said security officers at the building would not say what had happened.

Dubai Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects. A police source on Tuesday said officers are treating the murder as an assassination motivated by revenge.
