Ini­tia­tive is on the right track

The UAE has co-hosted a high-level brief­ing in New York on women and chil­dren’s rights. Along with the UN and Nor­way, the UAE held the event with the sup­port of HH Sheikha Fa­tima bint Mubarak, Chair­woman of the Gen­eral Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chair­woman of the Fam­ily De­vel­op­ment Foun­da­tion (FDF) and Pres­i­dent of the Supreme Coun­cil for Moth­er­hood and Child­hood, and Rym al Falasi, Sec­re­tary-Gen­eral of the Supreme Coun­cil for Moth­er­hood and Child­hood. Princess Sarah Zeid, Co-Chair of the Ev­ery Woman Ev­ery Child Ev­ery­where plat­form, praised the work of the UAE in pro­mot­ing women and chil­dren’s rights. “This is a UAE ini­tia­tive,” she said. “The UAE has en­cour­aged and pro­moted the work, cre­at­ing the space for us to pur­sue our mis­sion to con­vene and chal­lenge, mo­ti­vate and en­able hu­man­i­tar­ian and de­vel­op­ment ac­tors to­gether to pro­vide the best pos­si­ble out­comes for women, chil­dren and ado­les­cents even in the worst pos­si­ble cir­cum­stances.” She went on to high­light the key out­comes of the five-year im­ple­men­ta­tion strat­egy for the Ev­ery Child Ev­ery­where project, which was de­vel­oped at the sec­ond Con­sul­ta­tive Meet­ing of Ex­perts in Abu Dhabi in April 2016. The next plat­form will take place in Is­tan­bul on May 24.
