Initiative is on the right track
The UAE has co-hosted a high-level briefing in New York on women and children’s rights. Along with the UN and Norway, the UAE held the event with the support of HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Rym al Falasi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood. Princess Sarah Zeid, Co-Chair of the Every Woman Every Child Everywhere platform, praised the work of the UAE in promoting women and children’s rights. “This is a UAE initiative,” she said. “The UAE has encouraged and promoted the work, creating the space for us to pursue our mission to convene and challenge, motivate and enable humanitarian and development actors together to provide the best possible outcomes for women, children and adolescents even in the worst possible circumstances.” She went on to highlight the key outcomes of the five-year implementation strategy for the Every Child Everywhere project, which was developed at the second Consultative Meeting of Experts in Abu Dhabi in April 2016. The next platform will take place in Istanbul on May 24.
