Crashes claim lives in Dubai
Three people were killed and four others were injured in traffic accidents in Dubai over the weekend. Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the Traffic Department at Dubai Police, said a British motorist ran over an Indian pedestrian in Bur Dubai on Thursday. The pedestrian was seriously injured. On Friday, another run-over accident happened on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. A driver was standing behind his vehicle on the hard shoulder when a car crashed into him, again causing serious injuries. Also on Friday, at 4.40am, an Emirati motorist was killed when he crashed into the barriers and a lamppost on the Dubai to Hatta Road. On Saturday, at 4.30am, another Emirati man was killed when his Porsche hit a cement block on Sheikh Zayed Road. “He hit the cement block separating the road and died immediately,” Al Mazroui said. Then, in the early hours yesterday, an Iraqi man died when he crashed into a lorry on the Dubai to Al Ain road. In another incident yesterday, a lorry flipped over after colliding with a vehicle and two people were injured.
