Crashes claim lives in Dubai

Three peo­ple were killed and four oth­ers were in­jured in traf­fic ac­ci­dents in Dubai over the week­end. Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Di­rec­tor of the Traf­fic Depart­ment at Dubai Po­lice, said a Bri­tish mo­torist ran over an In­dian pedes­trian in Bur Dubai on Thurs­day. The pedes­trian was se­ri­ously in­jured. On Fri­day, an­other run-over ac­ci­dent hap­pened on Sheikh Mo­hammed bin Zayed Road. A driver was stand­ing be­hind his ve­hi­cle on the hard shoul­der when a car crashed into him, again caus­ing se­ri­ous in­juries. Also on Fri­day, at 4.40am, an Emi­rati mo­torist was killed when he crashed into the bar­ri­ers and a lamp­post on the Dubai to Hatta Road. On Satur­day, at 4.30am, an­other Emi­rati man was killed when his Porsche hit a ce­ment block on Sheikh Zayed Road. “He hit the ce­ment block sep­a­rat­ing the road and died im­me­di­ately,” Al Mazroui said. Then, in the early hours yes­ter­day, an Iraqi man died when he crashed into a lorry on the Dubai to Al Ain road. In an­other in­ci­dent yes­ter­day, a lorry flipped over af­ter col­lid­ing with a ve­hi­cle and two peo­ple were in­jured.
