Writer concerned that anyone can drive into car park at his block of flats

7 Days in Dubai - - DEAR 7DAYS -

“The same happens in JLT. All the underground car parks have barriers for residents and workers but cars without carpark passes wait in the road and sneak in tailgating those who have a pass through the barriers. Security guards are powerless to do anything about it, fearing that the driver who shouldn’t be there will make a complaint against them. We can’t do anything if a random car is in your allocated space, they won’t get towed away. There are no checks on these cars to see what they contain - it could be someone trying to scam a free day’s parking or something a lot more sinister.”

DUBOBBY

“If a building has a barrier thingy then I don’t see any cars coming and going as they please. I find most buildings pretty good with this actually I am going to guess you’re talking about a specific building in which case maybe have a chat with management.”

“This is simply down to the nationality of the driver – seen the same in the international schools where all but 10% have to provide ID to get access – privilege of passport!”
