Airport worker ‘stole Dhs5 pen from bag’
A Dubai Airport baggage handler has gone on trial accused of stealing a pen worth just Dhs5 from an item of luggage, writes Ali Al Shouk. Dubai Court of First Instance was told the 30-year-old Ugandan was spotted rummaging through bags that were about to be loaded, but was unable to find any valuables. An Emirati police officer, 35, said he was called to the handling area after the incident was spotted in January. He said: “He confessed that he opened four bags and found nothing. He was searching the bags for passengers heading to Morocco.” But the suspect denied the charges in court and the trial was adjourned until next month. He could be jailed for up to three years if found guilty.
