Eight-year-old Emirati Rashid Al Dhaheri continues to shine on the karting track after another first place in Italy.

On Sunday, the Abu Dhabi schoolboy took top spot for a second weekend in a row in the rookie category of the 2016 Parolin Championkart series. Despite starting the final race in seventh, Rashid put in a gutsy performance, which saw him make his way through the field to claim top honours at Pista Rioveggio near Bologna, Italy.

In a gruelling three days of racing Rashid completed more than 40 sessions and around 250km, alongside 100 other drivers amidst constantly changing track and weather conditions.

Team manager and exFormula 3 champion Fausto Ippoliti praised the youngster for his performance. Ippoliti said: “It was not an easy race weekend for Rashid. It was a new track, with tricky weather conditions which kept changing from session to session; we also had a few technical issues on Sunday morning before the final race.

“However despite all these challenges Rashid kept cool throughout and delivered a great performance. Yet again he showed incredible maturity and focus for his age.”

Rashid will return to action in the 2016 ChampionKart series on June 2 in Lignano, Italy.
