Reus the surprise omission from Germany’s Euro squad
Germany manager Joachim Loew sprang a surprise in his final 23-man squad for Euro 2016 by leaving out Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marco Reus. The 27-year-old missed the World Cup triumph through injury and this time has been overlooked along with fellow midfielders Julian Brandt, Karim Bellarabi and Sebastian Rudy.
Reus has struggled with injuries at times this season and Loew was disappointed not to be able to select the attacking midfielder. “He has massive injury problems and the medical staff were very sceptical about his ability to last through the coming weeks,” said the Germany boss. “It is a bitter decision and bitter for Marco.”
